University of Michigan AGEP Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

Purpose of program:
To provide postdoctoral research opportunity for students interested in pursuing an academic career. Participants in the program will receive mentoring to assist them in preparing themselves to enter a tenure track faculty position.
The Postdoctoral Fellowship:
- Nominally a one-year award.
- Stipend will be $55,000 for one year.
- Health insurance is provided.
- Postdoctoral Fellows will receive $5,000 to be used for research and travel expenses.
Criteria:
- This program is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who complete a Ph.D. in the science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields.
- Applicants must be one of the following: African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders.
- Preference will be given to students who, while attending a university that is participating in the National Science Foundation Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate Program (AGEP), have been active AGEP participants.
- Strong preference will be given to applicants who have clearly indicated that they wish to pursue a career in academia.
Application Process:
- Submit a current CV, a copy of your dissertation abstract and your academic transcript.
- Submit a list of three faculty who would be willing to provide you with a recommendation. Please include complete contact information.
- Include a statement describing your research interests, long-term career goals, and why and how you feel this postdoctoral experience will help you obtain them.

Please identify at least one University of Michigan faculty member with whom you would wish to work. You may submit more than one name. It is acceptable and you are strongly encouraged to contact faculty members, before submitting your application to discuss mutual interests. Faculty members with whom U-M Postdoctoral Fellows may work must hold an appointment in one of the following University of Michigan academic departments:
